I’m not quite sure how to judge because there has never been a bar high enough when it comes to a rugby game to set standards to. Unfortunately, I don’t think either of the rugby games released this year – or are overly brilliant. Let me start off with some of the problem I encountered in. The game is far too easy, even on medium difficulty but especially when playing against friends locally. The players will keep passing and passing – even when a successful tackle is made, they can still pass accurately in a falling animation. Everything else in the game is horrendously easy too. Throwing in straight line-outs, scrumming, kicking for the posts – nothing is a real challenge here because all you need to do is line up the lines each time and hit the analogue sticks.
It makes the game far too easy. In the first five minutes of play, I spotted a serious glitch that instantly put me in a bad mood. Funnily enough it was the same glitch I saw earlier in the year at the preview event hosted by Megarom where the developers said, ‘oh, we will get that fixed’. As a South African casual rugby supporter, I want to be able to play the licensed players from my country and perhaps even a few Bulls vs. Sharks games or something like that. Unfortunately, the South African license went to the game.
