Here's the set up on my end. Sony Vaio 2.1GHZ with 512MB, 1 80 GB HDD, and 1 120GB HDD Soundblaster Live Audio Card.

(Are these REALLY that bad? I am thinking of upgrading, but really it has been working for me so far.) Behringer UB802 Mixer (Great mixer for the price.) Digitech DSP256XL rack effects unit (Old - circa 1990) 2 SM57 microphones XLR cables for DI to the CyberTwin SE (I usually dont record this way, but it sounds pretty good really.) Magix Sequoia V 7.0 A butt load of DSP effects What I want to add: A nice condenser mic for recording vocals / accoustic guitar A better sound card. (May have to go USB since I am low on PCI slots.) I dont have the most elaborate setup in the world, but I think I get pretty good results considering what I have to work with. I know one thing for sure.

I'm addicted LOL Rj. Here is my humble system, nothing flash here, PC first Hard Drives are 40gig for data, 10 gig for software ( i always burn completed Cubase songs to DVD, at less than 40p a shot for JVC discs it makes sense ). AMD Athlon 2.2, 510 ram, SB Audigy Platinum ( i know its a crap card but when i bought it i just was not clued up enough to know! ) Motherboard is a Aopen KT600, i have a large chip cooler and a side case cooler, one of those things that changes colour as it spins, gimmicks aside it is my most important piece of kit as it keeps the heat well down. SB Live cards are only bad once you hear the difference that a cheap pro audio card can make. For similar money you can get much better results and even go up to 96kHz for even cleaner sounds.

Bluesy - the SB Audigy Platinum is a great card at 96kHz (but the samples are twice as big ) is yours the EX? If so you don't need to upgrade. If it is just the platinum on its own then maybe you want to consider it in the long run but you are getting good results as it stands and the difference is really negligible. Mine is: 1) Computer: AMD XP3000 400FSB with 512Meg mem on an Abit AN7 board, stock sound card (good enough for making 44.1/16 CDs for playing). 2) Microphone: Optimus 20.00 deluxe (now replaced with a Shure 57 rig). 3) Software: Current version of Goldwave to capture/edit tracks as WAVs, playback with the stock Windows Sound Recorder, DDClip Pro 32 track mixing/sequencing software, MusicMatch to render to MP3s, FruityLoops 2.7.2 to make drum loops and wierd sounds.
